for humors sake

I sit outside when ever I can. Not much to do while sitting around though.

I read or look at fb or chat a bit with Hubby or throw a toy for my husky. (Yes my husky fetches. On his own terms however.)

Anyway, when these activities are absent, and the birds are active, I mimic an area song sparrow. I don’t know if it is the same one or not. Probably not since I have done this for several years. It is humorous to me because the sparrow always seems to play along.

When He sings near me, he will start with a simple song. Just 4 or 5 notes. I will try to repeat that. Poorly I must say. Then he sings it again. I repeat. Then the next song he sings is longer by a note or two. I try to repeat that. He sings it again. I try to repeat.

Next go round he sings his song with a few more notes and a trill I cannot even pretend to produce. I tell him I can’t do that. He goes back to a simpler song, So I repeat that. We do that song for a few more rounds then he goes quiet. Then. I as well. I figure he got tired of me butchering his song.
The next day, when I am sitting outside, we start doing it again.

He probably wonders why i never get any better at it. If it is the same song sparrow he has given me quite a few lessons with out charge.

I don’t believe it is anything magical. I don’t even believe it is anything special about me. Maybe it is Just a small gifting from my Lord. Some thing for me to do.

for humors sake.

Matt 10:29-31 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows

 ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI – A SERMON TO THE BIRDS
“My little sisters the birds,
Ye owe much to God, your Creator,
And ye ought to sing his praise at all times and in all places, Because he has given you liberty to fly about into all places; And though ye neither spin nor sew,
He has given you a twofold and a threefold clothing
For yourselves and for your offspring.
Two of all your species He sent into the Ark with Noah
That you might not be lost to the world;
Besides which, He feeds you, though ye neither sow nor reap.
He has given you fountains and rivers to quench your thirst, Mountains and valleys in which to take refuge,
And trees in which to build your nests;
So that your Creator loves you much,
Having thus favoured you with such bounties.
Beware, my little sisters, of the sin of ingratitude, And study always to give praise to God.” Amen
