I haven’t celebrated Epiphany. Ever. That I can remember anyway. There are several Christian denominations that do. I guess I have never been a member of any of them at this time of year.
I think some Lutheran’s may celebrate Epiphany and I was raised by parents that attended a Lutheran congregation but I don’t remember our congregation ever celebrating that particular event.
We did celebrate Advent. That was my favorite as a kid. Watching the candles being lit week after week. Counting down the days until Christmas. O.k. the me, as a kid, it was more about Santa but the Savior’s Birth was not absent from my radar. And now as an older follower of Jesus, Advent still holds a special place in my Worship.
I have really just learned about Epiphany and I am hoping to learn a bit more. I don’t want to be ignorant about things of God. And I never want to be offensive to my Christian brothers and sisters in Christ that do celebrate Epiphany. So study I will.
It surely is more than “putting away the decorations” day.
I have learn that it is sometimes called Three King’s Day because it celebrates the wise men’s visit to the Infant Jesus.
I have also heard it called 12th Night.
Hopefully I can find more out and add it to my blog. Until then.
Have a wonderful Epiphany.
I have adopted this quote as my own:
Scrooge “I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. ”
As well as this quote:
Tiny Tim’s ” God Bless us, Everyone.”
“A Christmas Carol” Charles Dickens
